WGE staff shortlisted for CIBSE ANZ Young Engineers Awards

The finalists have been announced for the CIBSE ANZ Young Engineers Awards, with Wood & Grieve Engineers now part of Stantec picking up two nominations.

The Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (ANZ) Awards recognises the achievements of passionate young engineers, giving them a chance to shine.

Nominated by Rowan Barwood, WGE’s Electrical Section Manager in Sydney, Electrical Engineer, Katherine Jones has been announced as one of three finalists for the CIBSE ANZ Award – Graduate of the Year.

“It is exciting to see so many organizations, clients and suppliers raising awareness about the impact our industry has on the planet, and I am grateful to CIBSE for recognizing my passion for sustainable practices and bringing this to the forefront of the awards this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank WGE for their support and training while I pursue my passions in the building services world and beyond,” says Katherine.

Katherine joined WGE while completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) at the University of Sydney. She works across multiple sectors, including commercial, education, science, data centres and aged care.

WGE Sydney’s Mechanical intern, Jeff Tsang has been announced as one of three finalists for the Mark Griffin Award – Student of the Year. Jeff is an undergraduate student doing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) at the University of New South Wales. As part of his Mechanical Design 2 course, Jeff developed a strong interest in Building Services while completing a HVAC design project assigned to WGE. This experience and his drive to learn more about the industry led Jeff to join the WGE internship program.

“The CIBSE ANZ Young Engineers Awards has given me a chance to share my thoughts and insights on carbon reduction after working on many exciting projects at WGE,” says Jeff.

Winners will be announced at the CIBSE ANZ Annual Function and Awards evening on 12 September at Melbourne Museum and each will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

WGE would like to offer both Katherine and Jeff best of luck for their respective nominations and hope to celebrate again once the winners are announced in September.
