WGE projects recognised in Architecture awards

Wood & Grieve Engineers (WGE) would like to congratulate our clients who were recently recognised by the Australian Institute of Architects 2018 state awards.

In total, WGE were involved with 15 successful projects across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.

Optus Stadium was the big winner in the west, taking out the top prize – the George Temple Poole Award – along with four other categories; Public Architecture, Sustainable Architecture, Steel Architecture and Lighting.

Highgate Primary School took home two awards for its new teaching building including the Educational Architecture top prize, the Hillson Beasly Award, while also being acknowledged in the Urban Design category.

The WGE Melbourne team had two winners in the Commercial Architecture category, with renowned hospitality projects the Jackalope Hotel and Mercedes Me both receiving the accolade for the VIC awards.

The redevelopment of Robina Market Hall was also recognised in the Commercial Architecture category in the QLD chapter’s awards, with WGE provided electrical, mechanical, sustainability and vertical transportation services to the project.

Punchbowl Mosque took home the Sulman Medal for Public Architecture in the NSW awards, with multi-purpose community project The Connection in Rhodes (which WGE provided seven services) taking home an Urban Design award.

In all, 16 awards were presented to WGE projects with a further four projects given commendations.  All state finalists will now be considered for the National Architecture Awards, which will be announced at an event in Melbourne later this year.
