Barrack Place at 151 Clarence Street is a 20,000 square metre A-Grade office tower in the City of Sydney. Wood & Grieve Engineers now part of Stantec (WGE) provided sustainability, modelling and Green Star services for the contractor in a D&C capacity.
The tower was originally designed to a 5 Star Green Star and achieved a WELL Gold Precertification however, through a strong commitment to sustainability, as well as finding innovations and improvements in construction and materiality, WGE in conjunction with major contractor, Built and office owner, manager and developer, Investa worked on a strategy to improve the building to achieve a 6 Star rated outcome
The tender contract required a 5 Star Green Star outcome, however WGE developed a strategy to achieve a 6 Star outcome at a lower cost than the 5 Star strategy proposed by the building owner’s consultant. This strategy involved rewarding the development for unclaimed innovations and assessing the materials of the development through a life-cycle analysis.
Barrack Place was designed to deliver elements to attain a simplified, workable solution that delivered a higher environment outcome including a:
