Mechanical and Vertical Transportation Engineering Section Manager, Project Engineer

Nigel is a Chartered Engineer with fourteen years of engineering experience. His portfolio includes defence, commercial, residential, retail, education and laboratory developments in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning engineering.
He has a good knowledge of the renewable energy technologies available and can employ these appropriately to ensure clients reap the maximum benefit.
As Project Engineer, Nigel has direct client, design team and contractor liaison, including project meetings and site inspections, to ensure successful project completion.

What will you bring to a project

As the new mechanical section manager, I feel I bring a fresh approach and new enthusiasm to the role. I feel at home in the leader role I am currently in and am looking forward to further enhancing the WGE profile in Queensland.

Outside work

Nigel and his wife have recently bought land and are in the throes of designing and building their dream home. When the opportunity arises Nigel enjoys flying, and to a lesser extent crashing, model radio controlled aircraft.

Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Hospital,Department of Material Science and Metallurgy, Cambridge University,One Wood Street, Land Securities,Arthur Stanley House, UCL Hospitals,Proximity Hamilton (Building 5 Portside),St Stephen’s Hospital RedevelopmentMechanical project engineer overseeing the construction phase services for the Stage 2 works for the Emergency Department (ED) Project at the QEII Hospital.,The development consisted of a new building for the department of Material Science and Metallurgy on the West Cambridge Campus. The building has approximately 100,000ft² in floor area and includes high quality laboratory space designed specifically for the needs of the users, with associated office/write-up space, communal and external areas. The mechanical design incorporated naturally ventilated office areas, variable volume ventilation laboratory areas and a highly sensitive EM suite where temperature variation could not exceed +/-0.1°C in a 30 minute period. The renewable energy strategy was met by providing 2000ft² of photovoltaic panels. The project M&E value was £12m with total construction costs of £30m.,Nigel was the lead mechanical engineer for a 160,000 ft² Category A development incorporating multiple tenancies that had a project value of £50m.,Nigel was the lead principal / executive mechanical engineer for the refurbishment of a 1960’s building to house pathology departments. The project consisted of a mixture of laboratory and clinical space, including an Advisory Committee Dangerous Pathogens Containment Level 3 suite (ADCP CL3 suite) and offices to support the functions.
