A confidant communicator, Alex joined WGE’s Mechanical team in 2004 and quickly proved his worth designing, co-ordinating and superintending various building and infrastructure projects through all phases to construction. With a wealth of experience gained across all sectors, but in Residential and Education projects in particular, Alex enjoys working with large, complex structures, having been involved with the new Perth Library through to its completion. He is happy to assume the Project Co-ordinator role on behalf of WGE in multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of documentation to and from the design team, providing a single point of contact and maintaining internal quality control.
Possessing a strong comprehension of code, Alex is comfortable with challenging the boundaries around standard design to find bespoke solutions for his client. He also contributes greatly to the design team dynamic, clarifying the brief with all parties and sharing knowledge. Committed to ongoing professional development in his field, Alex continually strives to remain abreast of technical developments, advancing his understanding of compliance and mentoring junior staff.
I believe it’s critical to a project’s success to understand what is driving the client so that we can focus on achieving those goals. Every job is unique in its own way and I like to identify the best strategy to suit the structure, budget and programme, while preserving the architectural intent.
Alex enjoys cycling in his spare time, has a passion for Latin dancing, is a diehard AFL fan and a self-admitted AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO).
"Our company has always maintained and built-upon a strong relationship with Wood & Grieve Engineers over many, many years, with Mr Alex Deluca being one of the senior team members leading several of our projects from the mechanical perspective. What makes him desirable to work with is the way in which he puts in considerable efforts to be flexible and helpful to the project, to meet (what are quite often) tight time deadlines. Him and his team will always discuss and workshop options with us to find the optimum solution for the client, so that their money is being well-spent. This approach saves much time and heartache at the end of the project. We have no hesitation in asking Alex to provide cross-disciplinary consultancy services for our future jobs."Herarn Perera, DWA Architects
