Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Award winners announced

Western Australia’s outstanding construction projects were honoured by Master Builders Association at their annual Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards (Commercial) held at the Crown, Perth on Saturday 20 July.

The awards recognise and showcase excellence in quality workmanship and construction of those within the construction sector.

Wood & Grieve Engineers now part of Stantec (WGE) Managing Director, José Granado congratulated everyone involved and said the awards reflected the high standard of construction projects in Western Australia.

“We are delighted to have been involved in so many excellent winning projects in WA. Congratulations to the architects, builders, contractors and wider project teams for making these projects a reality,” said José.

This year’s awards attracted 105 entries, totalling over $2.3 billion in contractual value. With so many innovative projects up for consideration, WGE are proud to be involved in several winning projects including:

  • Subcontractor of the Year Award
  • Best Retail Building Over $100 million Award

Raine Square Perth

  • Best Refurbishment or Renovation $50 – $100 million

Karratha Health Campus

  • Best Health Care Building over $100 million

Opal Aged Care Facility Carine

  • Best Aged Care Building $20 – $50 million

Aquinas College Chapel Alterations

  • Best Refurbishment or Renovation under $1.5 million Award
  • Best Historic Restoration or Renovation under $1.5 million

Mirrabooka Government Fit-out

  • Best Building Fit-out $5 – $10 million

QT Hotel Perth

  • Best Building Fit-out $50 – $100 million

Wanneroo Central Shopping Centre

  • Best Retail Building $5 – $10 million

DFO Perth Airport

  • Best Retail Building $50 – $100 million

Prime House Joondalup

  • Best Office Building $20 – $50 million

Woolworths Mount Pleasant

  • Mark Allen Memorial Trust Fund Excellence in Workplace Health & Safety

Evermore White Gum Valley

  • Excellence in Energy Efficiency

Yongah Hill Detention Centre Northam

  • Best Government Building $20 – $50 million
  • Excellence in Waste Management

Hocart Lodge Harvey

  • 2019 Best Regional Project South West


In addition to the award winners, WGE were involved on an additional three projects making the finalist list including: Integrated Marine Operations Centre – 2019 Best Regional Project – Kimberley/Pilbara; St Francis Xavier Cathedral Geraldton – 2019 Best Regional Project Midwest; Hocart Lodge Harvey – 2019 Bankwest Best Project.
