Barangaroo South has emerged as the big winner from the 2018 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence Awards, held on 11 May 2019 in Sydney.
The largest commercial project to be developed in Sydney for the last decade, Barangaroo South – located in Sydney’s newest Barangaroo precinct – took home five national awards, including:
Wood & Grieve Engineers (WGE) are proud to have been a part of the acclaimed project, having provided acoustics services and sound masking in Tower 2 for the development, and would like to congratulate our client Master Projects Pty Ltd on the accolade.
In all, 22 awards were announced at the annual gala dinner, in what is considered one of the most prestigious property award programs in Australia. The only other multiple category recipients were the ICC Sydney Convention Centre (Best Tourism & Leisure Development, Best Public Building) and Stockland Wetherill Park (Best Sustainable Development – Existing Buildings, Best Shopping Centre Development).
WGE would like to congratulate all the 2018 award winners and our friends at Property Council of Australia for hosting yet another successful gala dinner.
The Barangaroo precinct, the largest commercial project that has occurred in NSW over the last decade, included three 40-storey towers with a NLA of 100,000m² of office space located in Sydney’s CBD.
As part of the 6 Star Green Star target for each tower, WGE was engaged to complete the design and commissioning of a sound masking system.
The Barangaroo towers rely on chilled beams for mechanical cooling which are extremely quiet. In order to achieve the required ambient noise level/range to achieve Green Star certification, a sound masking system was designed to increase the ambient noise level to within the acceptable range. The sound masking system and success of the design and commissioning was a critical item in Lendlease obtaining 6 Star Green Star certification.
