WGE working on AS5488 to improve management of underground assets

Work is underway on updating Australian Standard AS5488-2013 for Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). WGE’s Rob Sansbury is involved with Engineers Australia and Standards Australia in improving the approach to the management of underground utilities like gas, water and electricity. The updated standard will address one of the key challenges on a construction site – when existing underground utilities are not documented accurately, or information on existing infrastructure is simply not available.
