nib Stadium

With the strong following of Western Australian rugby and soccer teams playing in national and international leagues the need for a modern rectangular stadium in Perth was evident. The old Perth Oval, with a history of over a hundred years of different sporting pursuits and now home to the Perth Glory and Western Force as nib Stadium, was selected in 2011 for an upgrade to become a purpose built rectangular field venue.

The project consisted of the removal of the existing temporary east stand and replacing with a new 7000 seat roofed structure with corporate boxes, toilets and food and beverage facilities. A new southern stand, new control room and site wide CCTV was also within the project brief.

WGE provided the electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and sustainability services to the project. Working closely with Cox Architects, Venues West and Department of Sport and Recreation, WGE were able to design the stadium to suit modern facility requirements.

Next time you’re watching the Glory or the Force remember that it was WGE who helped make it happen.
